Family-owned and operated since 2008, Summit Home Services has grown from a one-truck operation into Greater Pittsburgh's trusted name in plumbing and electrical.
Our Story
Summit Home Services was founded in 2008 by James and Karen Mitchell as Mitchell Plumbing, operating out of their garage in Whitehall, Pennsylvania. James brought over 25 years of experience as a master plumber, while Karen's MBA and sharp business instincts kept the books balanced and customers happy. They started with one truck, a toolbox, and a simple commitment: do honest work at a fair price.
In 2012, they hired Dave Rodriguez to launch an electrical division, combining plumbing and electrical expertise under one roof. The move proved transformative, as customers loved the convenience of a single company they could trust for both trades. The team quickly grew, and in 2014, Pittsburgh Magazine named Mitchell Plumbing & Electric “Best Plumber” in their annual reader survey.
By 2016, the company had expanded into commercial services under the leadership of Rachel Green. In 2018, they rebranded to Summit Home Services to reflect the full scope of residential and commercial plumbing and electrical work. Today, the company employs 26 people, operates 12 service vehicles, and has completed over 12,000 jobs across Greater Pittsburgh. Despite the growth, the Mitchells still answer the phone, still visit job sites, and still stand behind every job with their name.
